Subj:   Admin Comment: Migrating TeradataForum Server

From:   John Hall

I just wanted to let everybody know that I'm migrating the TeradataForum to a new server.

I expect to start late on Friday (Feb 7th, EDT). While I expect the move to be quick and easy, it takes time for the Domain records to propagate across the internet. The propagation can be as short as an hour or two - or as long as a couple of days.

During this time, you might get either the old or the new server. The Archives should be available - the old and new servers currently match, so it doesn't matter which server you're accessing. If you get some kind of error like a 404 (Page Not Found), please wait a bit and try again - you probably caught one of the DNS servers being updated.

Once I start the propagation of the Domain records, I still have some clean-up to do with the new server. Unless there's some kind of surprise waiting for me, it shouldn't take too long.

If you send a post during the weekend, one way or the other, it should be received by me. I'll hold any posts until the migration is done.

When I think that the Domain records are done propagating, I'll send a note letting everybody know. I expect to send that note no later than Monday morning. If you don't receive that note by Wednesday, please send me a note to let me know that I still have some work to do.

Thank you for your patience,

John Hall
