We might be mixing char compression with blc. Its a huge topic to explore.

BLC is available with 2 variations.

1- h/w induced - propreitary h/w compression cards

2- s/w induced - which acts as failover

if you are on a practice vm then you can do as you wish.

For controlled systems, its the admins call on what settings to put on
