Subj:   Re: Teradata Server Migration Without BAR

From:   Harris, Tim

Re:" We are Upgrade/migrating Teradata server and our current BAR (TARA) Version is not supporting to the new Teradata 13.10 version. So we are finding the other way than backup and restore process."

As previously mentioned by Barb - " NPARC - did your Teradata Solution Architect offer this as an option for your data movement?"

This is the best advice for migrating to a new system.

Re:" Why don't you first upgrade your TTU level (BAR included) to your new target version?" & " If BAR is not upgraded, how are you planning to take backups?"

As mentioned, at some point you will need to upgrade BAR - unless you alternate plans for backing a system up. The BAR software version needs to at least be at the same level as the database version - if DBS is going to 13.10, then BAR software needs to be at least at 13.10 also.
