Hi Gurus,

I want to insert 'char' values in a table with column defined as datatype 'Integer'

Viz,

     CREATE SET TABLE Test1 ,NO FALLBACK ,
     NO BEFORE JOURNAL,
     NO AFTER JOURNAL,
     CHECKSUM = DEFAULT
     (
     Col1 INTEGER
     )
     PRIMARY INDEX ( Col1 );

     CREATE SET TABLE Test2 ,NO FALLBACK ,
     NO BEFORE JOURNAL,
     NO AFTER JOURNAL,
     CHECKSUM = DEFAULT
     (
     Col1 char(5)
     )
     PRIMARY INDEX ( Col1 );

     INSERT INTO TEST1
     (
     Col1
     )
     SELECT
     Col1
     FROM
     Test2
     ;

This is throwing error 2620- The format or data contains bad character.

Can somebody help me out with the resolution please.

Many Thanks in advance
