Subj:   Re: Teradata Viewpoint setup

All,

Regarding the recent email post on Teradata Viewpoint setup:

I have no idea what the CS folks meant when stating 80 hours for proof of concept. I actually like to know who stated that to find out exactly.

In terms of Viewpoint Configuration, we have CoE's in the regions to assist with that. Checking with the Americas team, they confirmed that it usually takes "four hours for an initial Viewpoint setup including clustering as there is no data". So 4 hours should be the expectation for initial configuration, certainly not 80.

Now if this is a transition of a fully populated Viewpoint instance, then there is additional time necessary to migrate the data in the Viewpoint Data Collection to the new server. The current collection capacity is 4x450GB drives in a RAID V collection so one would need to consider the amount of time to transfer up to ~1.2TB. But even with this additional work, it shouldn't be 80 hours.

The only other thing I can think of is that we do offer a PS Viewpoint Advisory Service that will assist a customer with best practices and such. Maybe that's where the 80 hours idea came up.
