Subj:   Re: Running scandisk

From:   Paddock, Eric

  1. Do I open Database Window -> Supvr and type 'start ferret' and submit the command from there?

Yes, start ferret in the supervisor window and then go to the window that ferret starts in (should be 1)

  2. The utility guide shows some options in running scandisk command such as 'scandisk' 'scandisk inq ? m' 'scandisk db' etc. I am not sure which command I should use.

In the appropriate database window (where ferret is running) enter: scandisk

It will then ask if you want to do all in scope. Enter: y

You then enter: inq

To monitor progress

3) Be sure to exit ferret at the conclusion of scandisk enter: exit

If you have users running on the system you may impact them, scandisk is i/o intensive

I recommend running scandisk directly from the PDN node if possible. If you use the windows database window and lose you connection you cannot reconnect, and ferret will not be terminated.. be sure you are logging the screen or terminal so that if errors occur you don t lose them
