If you are prior V13, you will have to give some permission that does not inadvertently compromise database.

For view database, you could probably give CHECKPOINT permission (Assuming that view database has only Views only).

     GRANT CHECKPOINT ON  TO ROLE_Name/UserName;

If you are running V13 Teradata database GRANT SHOW ON TO ROLE_Name/UserName;
