Thanks for your reply.

The code

1 - Not sure how to tell if table is evenly distributed across the AMPS.

2 - There are no indexes on these columns.

3 - Table is not perm journalled.

4 - Ran code to check if system is particularily busy when running script but appears ok.


The code is real apart from the database/table name with no where clauses (update needed to be applied to all rows) and the table definetly has 180,000 rows.

Info from a quick web search suggests setting a primary key will enable teradata to evenly distribute the table across the AMPS (which indicates the script should run more quickly), does this sound correct to you?
