Thanks for the feedback everyone.

You've confirmed it "used to work" in V2R6 :-). I suspected it was ANSI related.

I don't like to use the /365 method due to leap years ( sel ((date'2008-06-01')-(date'2007-05-31'))/365 ) so we've been using a convoluted CASE statement to compare day / month and subtract 1 if required.

I just wanted someone to confirm that the behaviour had changed between releases, we should have picked this up as part of the upgrade process but it's very difficult when we only have a single production box and no DEV system. I guess it was documented somewhere in the Teradata 12 release summary and I missed it (or more likely didn't understand it).
