Subj:   Re: Error 3566 - Database does not have permanent Journal

From:   Viswanath, Kasi

Hi All,

Found much more interesting enhancements with TD 12 and TD 13

Teradata Database 13.0 and Later:

On Teradata Database 13.0 and later, you can do selective backups and restores of database objects such as views, triggers, stored procedures and others.

Teradata Database 12.0 and prior

Only the entire database, or individual tables and PPI partitions can be backed up or restored.

On Teradata Database 12.0 and later, online backups can be performed without permanent journaling.

Logging is automatically started when an online backup is requested. This improves performance of the DBS as only change images during backup are recorded in the journal table.

On V2R6, permanent journaling must be enabled for online backups.

Regards,

Viswanath
