Subj:   How to bypass bad data in Multiload

From:   Zhang, Michael

Hi,

we have a daily multiload insert job and a few critical jobs depend on the successful completion of it. This multiload often failed at acquisition phase due to data quality issue.

For example, an unexpected input character appears same as the defined delimiter. Thus it gives an error "Data item too large for field xxx in vartext record number 999" as the second part of input string is regarded as the next column. No rows are inserted into error table as Multiload treats it as critical failure with RC=12.

Currently we have difficulty to filter the source data, so I wonder if in multiload script, there is a way to "bypass" this offending record and complete multiload with lock released and return code as 0 or something similar. Out business people are happy to discard this offending record and need all the dependent jobs complete.

I understand INMOD can filter data, but have no knowledge on C.

We are running TTU8.2, this multiload job runs from MVS

thanks,

Michael
