Subj:   Re: Linux vs MP-RAS 'gotchas'

From:   Leslie, Quincy

This is real world recent experience. We have automated systems that replicate data from a primary to an alternate TD server using automated ARCMAIN and COPY processes. We have recently been replicating with ARC from LINUX and COPY to MP/RAS, during an upgrade. We find that ARC (or COPY- unclear) somehow corrupts any partitioned primary indexes, which has necessitated a script that runs immediately after the COPY job and does a REVAL of the pp index, which then runs fine; runs in a second or so. Once the upgrade is concluded, both the primary and alternate will be Linux, and I assume end of ppi issue. Beyond that, we have running similar apps on both servers, without issues, other than size of server disparities. While I am not one the official DBA team, I am not aware of significant issues, other than slow response on the on the overworked server (being used for a load much larger that for which it was specified).
