Ya know, not to kvetch or anything, but our favorite dbms is MPP, so it's real possible that maybe Teradata should think about changing the default type for COUNT to something that might fit our larger than O____ tables. It's a pain in the neck to run a count on one of the larger tables, have it fail 'cause it's large, then to go "Oh yeah!" and have to run it again. Better yet, implement Dieter's suggestion of getting the record counts from the cylinder info while you're at it. Ok, have I stirred up the pot?
