Madhumitha Das,

As Phaneendra mentioned, your wincli32.dll error message is probably caused by an old version of a DLL in \windows\system32\. The \Program Files\NCR\Teradata Client\cliv2\ folder contains localisation.dll, tdusr32.dll, wincli32.dll, and terasso.dll. Older versions of these DLLs must be removed from \windows\systems32\.

Your \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file should contain a line similar to:

     127.0.0.1 localhost localtdcop1

Then you can connect to Teradata with Bteq using:

     .LOGON localtd/tduser

The "marketing stuff" in your hosts file might be links to phishing sites. You should remove "bad stuff" from your hosts file and run a program that checks for viruses and spyware.
