From:   Barner Eric

We use a crontab to run a job (after all backups should be complete) to Release locks on databases that were backed up and may have a lock on them due to backup failure, or aborted job etc.... It is not as nice and clean as running showlocks , and only releasing the locks that exist, but is works well enough for us and is safe enough to run in conjunction with our batch.
