Subj:   Re: Help on cursors in teradata

Cursors are not a strength of Oracle. Cursors preclude set based processing from occurring on all SQL database implementations. I was on a project and the Oracle team that handled application database requirements were begging for the chance to re-write their application because the cheap contractors they hired implemented cursors in pandemic fashion and their performance was in the toilet.

I although recent threads seem to have corrected the popular misconception that stored procedures are patently bad on Teradata. If the SP does not use a cursor then youll going to be as parallel with a stored procedure as one without.
