I also thought the same thing as you have mentioned in your comments. But sometimes it really makes a difference and that difference can be seen in the EXPLAIN plans of various SQL's.

In fact I thought that collecting stats on UPI is also not required as it is always ONE AMP operation. But again, sometimes EXPLAIN shows the difference like "LOW CONFIDENCE" or "HIGH CONFIDENCE".
