In version 12 it is especially important that you keep stats up to date because if the optimizer determines the stats are stale it will
automatically use the random amp sample regardless of existing stats. Also you do not have to collect stats in a linear fashion. You can run
multiple stats collections against the same table or multiple tables at the same time which can significantly reduce the amount of time it takes
to collect stats.
