Subj:   Re: ODBC for Unix or JDBC with 64k SQL Limit

From:   Victor Sokovin

What I do know is that Teradata created a fix on the 64K limit (found out today due to internal channels). But this is only on ODBC. I have no idea about JDBC and need to investigate more on that.

There is a fairly good chance that the JDBC driver will work fine out of the box. This ODBC driver bug should not have any impact on the JDBC driver.

The problem on other vendors is the fact that Cognos 8 is not supporting these ODBC Drivers (not saying that they won't work). They only support the one from Teradata. Even the latest Version of Cognos (8.3) is not supporting OBDC on Linux. It will start from Version 8.4

I only mentioned other vendors' drivers as a quick way of finding the truth about the 64K limit but if Teradata already prepared a fix there is no point in further investigation of this issue. It was a bug and it should be fixed by now.

Victor
