Thanks Joseph,

My laptop is not in the same domain as the DNS server (thanks for the ipconfig/al command).....so that helps me ask my question better.....

I need to know how to include this domain (XXX.YYY.ZZ), in the DNS Suffix Search List on my laptop (and the other servers - I assume it'll be the same or similar whether it's a laptop or windows server).....

If I understood what you said (and I may not have - I try really hard to remain somewhat ignorant about the black box of network 'stuff'....) If my network folks would define Teradata on the DNS servers it would work, or I could define the DNS suffixes on the servers that connect to Teradata (much easier to influence these folks - they WANT to connect to Teradata)
