Hi,

For setuping the DW from the current operational datasource then you have to go through the below models in implementing DW. ( Which I'm specifying is for the teradata environment)

1.Requritment Analysis

1a.Project Initialization

1b.Intial Research

1c.Project Analysics

2.Logical Model

2a.Check the tables are all in the 3NormalForm.

2b.Relationships between the entities are well defined

3.Extended Logical Model

3a.Data demographics is been colleted.

3b.Access frequency of the tables

3c.Volume of the objects

3e.Integrity

4.Physical Model

5.Testing

6.Move to production

After setting the logical desgin you can write scripts or some ETL tools to move the required data from the operational datasource to DW.
