This error comes when the SQL Assistant does not receive any response from the teradata Server. The SQL assistant will wait for a some time (I observed it around 4 mins).If within that time if there is no response received from Server, the connection will get broken.

This can happen because of many reasons:

a) If there are a lot of re-distributions

b) If statistics is not up to date for the columns in JOIN Condition and in the WHERE clause.

c) By Fire walls.
