Subj:   When Teradata says it is a "BIG" table

From:   Weng, Silei

Hello Everyone,

As you know, when we are doing a non-PI join, TD would sometimes redistribute one of the tables and sometimes it would duplicate one table to all AMPS. I was told that TD makes the decision by an analysis on the cost of the different plans. And one of the considerations is: how much one table is BIGGER than the other one. So my question is here the "BIG" means the row count of the table or the table size (with the column width)?

Regards,

Silei
