Subj:   Re: 5728: Partitioning violation for table TARGET

From:   John Mathew

Hi,

Thanks for the response, I have been able to create based on the column but doing some manipulation so that value is less than the limit.

But if the partitioned column is used in the where clause with some manipulation it does not recognize the partition at all.

for example

if the partition is on store_id

In the where clause if I give store_id = BANG001, The explain would show that partition is used.

but If i give like substr(store_id,5,7)=001, then it would do a all row scan.

Is there a limitation on doing any manipulation on the partitioned column in the where clause of the query?

Thanks,

John Mathew
