Subj:   Arcmain Lock Question

Hello,

We have one big database around more than 100 tables. Database size is around 3 TB. Currently we are taking daily backup of around 10 databases and this one is big. This database has 3 big tables and size of these 3 tables is around 1.7 TB. As database size is increased it is taking longer time than earlier decided window. I want to break this database backup into 2 jobs. One will take backup of 3 big tables and other will take backup of remaining table. Current backup job is Full-Cluster backup with 6 drives and total 60 clusters.

My question is:

1. After breaking backup job into 2 different jobs, what kind of LOCK arcmain will use. At present I am using database level backup (which includes all tables) so it is database level READ Lock. I know one job, which will have only three table it will use Table level Lock. But I want to know what kind Lock another job will use, which will exclude 3 tables?. It will be database level lock or table level lock? Considering more available drives, I want to run these 2 backup jobs in parallel. Is it possible? Is there anybody who is taking backup in this way?

2. I am using NetVault for backup. When I am trying to execute backup job, which EXCLUDE 3 tables, I am getting error as "Table exclusion is not permitted". Does it mean that NetVault is not supporting for table exclusion or we need to have any particular setting? I know ARCMAIN support for table exclusion.

Any suggestion/advices are welcome
