We need to anonymize (ie make anonymous - I'm not sure it's a real word either) a field containing a 16 character account number (all numeric). The first 6 characters should remain visible to the reader but the remaining 10 characters should be anonymized.

I presume the easiest way to do this is by creating a overlaying view - do any T-list members have any experience of doing anything similar and any best practices I can lean on for this kind of thing.
