Subj:   Modifying MaxLoadTasks

I would like to find out if there is anyone out there that has modified the MaxLoadTasks DBS Control parameter. This parm limits the number of Load/Unload tasks that can run concurrently on the system. The default is 5 but it can be set from 0 to 15. We recently had a job receive the following error, which indicates we hit the max of 5 at some point. The MLOAD job did not fail. It retried after the default 6 minute sleep time and eventually completed successfully.

2633 Too many load/unload tasks running: try again later

Explanation: This error occurs when more than a certain number (currently 5) of Fast/Multi Loads, FastExport are simultaneously active.

Notes: This error exists because of the need to set a limit on the number of concurrent Fast/Multi load , FastExport operations. Check var/adm/streams for more information

Remedy: For fastload resubmit request later. Multi-load automatically resubmits when it gets this error.

If anyone has increased this parm, I'd like to know the decision process. Does it depend on the size of your system? We are currently running on 8, 5380 nodes.

Thanks for your incite!
