Subj:   MONITOR SESSION using PM API

From:   Kael B Stratton

Hi,

I've read the article

www.teradataforum.com/teradata/20030602_215333.htm

which ultimately identifies a Teradata documentation problem using the MONITOR partition accessed through the PM API; but here's my problem.

I can log on to Teradata via the CLI calls. I can execute sql and get results back. I can log on to the MONITOR partition. I can execute the MONITOR VERSION command. I try to run a MONITOR SESSION statement, but get this error:

DBS Error Code 3251: Required input data parcel missing or wrong size for this request.

My target version is 4. My response mode is 'R'. It seems like I may have to change this to 'I', but this is where I get lost.

I'm not 100% sure what MONITOR SESSION needs for setup before executing.

Does anyone have a snippet of C code that describes this? I'm certainly not looking for a completed application, just a successful execution on MONITOR SESSION. Or can someone point me to some detailed documentation. I have been all over the PM/API Reference. It does describe certain functions well, like MONITOR VERSION, but only talks about using MONITOR SESSION.

Any help is appreciated.

Kael
