There are a few cons I've run into.
1: If you join linked tables in access to a native access table, you will get 1 call to the database per row.
2: If you refresh the link (due to a password change, etc), you lose any primary keys (on the linked table NOT the terdata table)
you define upon linking the table. This only impacts if you need to update the table.
