Subj:   Re: Questions about Volatile tables

From:   Pankow, Jeff

It is known to be in the MERGE step; i.e. populating the volatile table.

Check the Primary Index uniqueness. Too many values for a particular PI could cause extra time spent in the MERGE.

Can one look at the volatile table; perhaps even it's size or something else by which the progress of populating can be monitored?

Volitile tables are created in a user's spool space. Check spool usage for each amp from dbc.allspace for the user (ie - select * from dbc.diskspace where databasename = 'USERID'). Look at column 'CurrentSpool'.
