Subj:   Re: Displaying TDQM queue information

From:   Ballinger, Carrie

If you are on V2R5.x, the only place you can view the delay queue in real time is within the TDQM Administrator facility. There's a screen called "Workload Status - Delayed Queries" that shows the User, Performance Group, Session number and number of seconds delayed. Prior to 5.1 this was a static screen that did not refresh automatically. In 5.1 you can specify a refresh interval for the screen.

The list is sorted with the query that has been in the queue the longest listed first.

In 6.0 TDQM has been brought under the Teradata Manager umbrella. In that release you can view delayed queries in two places: 1.) TDWM Object Query Statistics and (Teradata Manager => Monitor => TDWM => Object Query Stats); 2.) TDWM Object Deley Queue List (Teradata Manager => TDWM => Object Delay Queue List).

You can't really display this information coming from Teradata Manager to other users.

However, there is a PMPC interface available as of V2R6 that can provide information such as the length of time queries have been delayed. So you can get at some of that detail in real-time programmatically if you wish. There is an appendix that covers this in the Orange Book titled "Filters and Throttles in Teradata Workload Management".

Thanks, -Carrie

Users now know we have a queuing mechanism and are wanting to know if they are queued, and if so when were they put into queue and where are they within the queue.

Is there a way to display this information short of giving all the users access to TDQM Administrator?
