Subj:   Re: ODBC Queries repeated

From:   JANIK, ROBERT

Correcting myself, I should say that this is an ODBC standard, not specific to the Teradata ODBC driver.

MLOAD's, FASTLOAD's, etc. have been offered as alternatives to our user community. However, these alternatives become a burden when most of the users who submit MS Access or Sql Assistant based queries (particularly Inserts) are not familiar with MVS (or UNIX) systems.

The effort to train submitting users (we have hundreds), familiar only with their PC based systems, on MVS or UNIX would be a monumental effort.

Repeat queries such as the ones we are encountering are detrimental to system performance. Sensible but time consuming alternatives such as MVS/UNIX loads have been promoted to our user community. However, the most effective solution would be to find alternative software that would inhibit or enhance the ODBC driver so that user's queries are not "repeated".

Thanks,

Bob J.
