Table columns always have a FORMAT in TVFields. If you don't specify one in your DDL, the system generates one when you create the table/column. But SHOW TABLE omits the FORMAT whenever it happens to match the system default for the data type.

For example, if you ALTER an INTEGER column to have FORMAT '-(10)9' then SHOW won't include a FORMAT clause for it.
