Subj:   Re: Ascential Datastage and dbc.userrights

From:   Mike Steeves

The problem we were having with the Ascential Datastage tool (7.5.1) attempting to verify user rights at the table level has been resolved by a patch that Ascential created for us. Here is the Ascential Case# 461108 and Engineering Bug# 87666 if you are experiencing this same issue and want to inquire about the patch.

Basically, we are handling all permissions through Roles now in Teradata and the ETL tool was trying to verify a user's access by checking the dbc.userrights view for the specific right against a specific table and failing when it did not find it. I believe Ascential's patch is just removing that verification step and allowing Teradata to control security now as it should. Hope this information helps others and thanks for your feedback on this subject.

-Mike
