Explore/Test Design Considerations:

Adopt ELT approach where the benefit is the greatest. resist using ETL to serialize processes when you can use set at time processing and parallelism.

Explore using staging tables for initial landing of data. perform data cleansing, data quality, and enforce RI at this layer.

End User Query layer explore/test using the parent table PI for distribution and local amp joins to child tables with same PI columns.

Create an overall data architecture approach and environment. Look at data in layers respective to what it means and it is to be used by the business. This approach can be applied to the ETL/ELT layers as well.
