Subj:   Re: Comments inside a view not showing...

From:   Dempsey, Mike

I'm afraid it is a 'feature'.

SQL Assistant has always removed comments from views ... but until 7.0 it only recognized /* */ style comments.

In 7.0 it also started handling ANSI style comments - so now it removes those too.

If you use F9 (Execute Parallel) it will not remove the comments. (However, your query can only contain 1 Create statement if you use F9)

In 7.1 you can add a registry entry to prevent it from removing comments in all cases. This is documented in 'Advanced Features' in the help file, but it will cause the SQL to fail if you ever place a semicolon inside a comment.

In 7.2 (future) it will never remove comments ... and will also allow semicolons in comments.
