Some sites just sysinit and run rescribe for a while. You can also run various open-source utilities - but be sure you pick one that can handle "raw" devices not just filesystems.

But if you need to be 100% sure, you may need to discuss with the disk array vendor (EMC or engenio) or take the really expensive route of contracting with someone to wipe each drive.

On the subject of "data destruction" - don't forget about "failed" drives (that may only have a few tracks or sectors inaccessible...
