We've used a Tivoli network backup solution for all 3 of our Teradata systems, 2 W2K BAR servers and the Tivoli storage management environment
for about a year now. Much of the backups go through a SAN and eventually get to tape; several are too big for our SAN and go directly to tape.
Using 3 concurrent ARCMAIN jobs on each BAR server, we achieve a 100GB per ARCMAIN job per hour (600GB per hour total) backup rate at our fastest.
We had Teradata ProSvcs assist us in configuring and testing the whole thing, but their BusContinuity group is still ramping up to support our
environment; we'll test them in January!
