We have been using ColdFusion with Teradata since CF 4.5. We have use it successfully with CF4.5, CF5.0, CFMX 6.1, and now CFMX7.0. It works great.

CF 5.0 and below use ODBC and CFMX 6.0 uses JDBC. We use the standard drivers with no modifications. [Note: There is one configuration issue with CFMX, Teradata's JDBC driver, and older versions of the TDBMS make sure you read the Teradata JDBC manual for the specific configuration info for CFMX]
