Subj:   Re: Fastload in Unix

From:   Matthew Winter

Hi,

FASTLOAD scripts under Unix can be controlled/executed from any of the scripting languages your Unix variant supports.

We currently make use of Korn Shell (KSH) scripts for control of all our FASTLOAD, MULTILOAD and BTEQ scripts, however there is no reason why you can not use BASH, Perl, Python....

As for examples of executing FASTLOAD under Unix, there are some in the FASTLOAD Teradata Manual, that would at least get you started.

From past experience most companies tend to have different standards on how the wrapper scripts should written, based on things like, how they are to be scheduled, how the logs need to be output, how the processes need to be audited, how restartable the processes need to be, etc...

Regards

Matthew Winter
