  From practical experience, I have found TD being a lot faster than Oracle but on the flip side, Oracle gives you a lot more flexibility in how you want to design your DB and with Oracle 10g Grid Control aimed at performance and failover, it could be a whole new story. I haven't had much experience with TD so far so can't say much.
