Vijay,

It has been a while since I have seen Netezza. Maybe they have improved some of the week areas. Here were my impressions from March 2004 (I could not find my notes).

It could not be used for Active Data Warehouse. They even admitted to this point.

I believe it did not have any OLAP SQL functions (Aggregate Windowing functions).

The utilities were very immature.

No backup utilities offered.

Said they could scale, but only offered a 27 TB system.

Costs were not lower than other systems.

That said it looked like something to watch.

It looked like it could be very handy for those 2 - 3 mining projects in an unmanaged world. However, cost might be to high for that kind of environment.
