No, Chris, it simply did not occur to me you would have to run *multiple* DDLs in SQLA. I thought running *one* DDL in *parallel* mode was weird enough already to deserve an extra encouragement (and that's what I tried to communicate). The fact that each DDL forms a separate transaction is fair enough. Just a pity that comments handling gets in the way here. Might be quite difficult to explain to users what exactly they should be doing to keep their comments in the database.

Thanks for the reply... I was just "fun'in" you...

You do bring up a good point though... (as you most often do...) about comments handling...

There are never enough breadcrumbs in the warehouse to help us understand what the purpose of the warehouse application is within the system. The CommentString holds 255 characters which are not enough for a good comment about a Database, Entity or Attribute.

ERWIN or other modeling tools offer the functionality to provide a greater depth of documentation but are not easy tools for the masses. It would be great to be able to create a data dictionary directly from the system, fully commented with simple SQL that could be used as a general reporting solution.

I have created tables in the system that supports this level of effort that provides a better "comments handling" solution. I would be very interesting in everyone's take on how they handle documenting their systems.

So A-Team... Please feel free on sharing your aches and pains of how you have documented your systems.

I learn great things on this forum and look forward to hearing from people smarter than me... (or is that "I"???)
