Subj:   Re: Client connection to Teradata Demo server

From:   Sankar Yaddanapudi, Pranav

Manoj,

There are no restrictions to connect from other client machines to Demo Teradata.

As I can quickly think of there could be some problem like:

1. The client and the server are in different networks with Firewall blocking the required ports (TCP/UDP port 1025). Please check if you can connect to the server via ODBC connection by running SQL Assistant/TD Administrator. If you are successful doing this then there may not be a network issue.

2. You might have the COP entry wrongly defined in the HOSTS file of client machine. Note that there is no COP entry required in the Server for you to connect from the client machine. Normally the COP entry (for demo installation) is mentioned as below. In this case the TDPID to be used in bteq logon statement is DemoTDAT. This COP entry is required only for the utilities using CLI connectivity (bteq, mload, etc..).

          < Server IP Address> DemoTDATcop1

Please send us more details like exact error message etc. if you could not succeed even after checking the above.

Pranav Sankar
