Subj:   Re: Teradata Vs Oracle Grid

From:   OHara, Daniel

Hi,

From what I read Oracles grid technology is about consolidating clusters. If this is the case the Oracle instances will be separate they may present one view of the data but there will be an issue joining large data sets from different Oracle instances. It's a different beast from Teradata where each VAMP has a slice across all the data.

I looked on Google for "oracle grid technology" and found this article:

searchoracle.techtarget.com

This guy seems to be upset with the way Oracle is describing its offerings as "Grid".
