Subj:   Re: Batch userid to connect from unix only

From:   Dennis Calkins

Hi,

This trick only works to prevent access from NETWORK versus MAINFRAME. Not Windows Versus UNIX.

On Most systems, The HOST ID ( the HGID in the vconfig File ) is identical for all PE's and GTW Vprocs.

Therefore Every Network connected system uses the same HOSTID.

Unless you go out of your way to configure more that one HGID for your PE's and GTW vprocs in the vconfig file disabling this logon from 52 or 01 or whethever the HOSTID is for your network will DISALLOW them from logging on from ANY NETWORK client.

Now defining multiple HGID's will also limit which NODES people can connect to as well since the GTW vprocs are Node specific. That might require changing your COP Aliases to match the node groups.

you should contact your NCR account team and/or the Teradata Global Support center before making such a change.
