Subj:   Re: SQL using Ltrim function

From:   Mirjam Berger

Hi Anomy,

I think you have SQL Assistant set up to allow for use of ODBC SQL Extensions (Look under Tools / Options/ Query / Allow use of ODBC SQL Extensions in Query)

With this your SQL gets modified from SQL Assistant, so that it runs on TD. But obviously you don't want to check this option for SQL that you develop for use in BTEQ. Just uncheck the option in the future and you should be fine (Date and Times might still be handled differently between BTEQ and ODBC tools...)

As for now, I don't know of a way to make BTEQ run your SQL. The Teradataversion of what you are looking for is:

     Sel trim(leading from col_i) (char(10)) from db1.table1;

Hope this helps :)

Mirjam
