Subj:   Re: Convert hex number to int?

From:   Victor Sokovin

Please be more specific. If you are asking how to convert BYTE fields to integers -- e.g., the first few bytes of FieldStatistics or DBC.SessionInfo.LogonSequenceNo -- then look at the Forum archives; there are many threads on these topics. The standard disclaimer applies, however: these are internal fields, and their format and meaning are subject to change without notice.

I am sure the suggestion was targeted at the OP but feeling guilty for my earlier overly optimistic (and untested) suggestion I have found one of the threads:

If the conversion still *has* to be so painful, then I would rather stick with the "literals" version or apply the method in the thread quoted above to the particular case the OP had in mind. And I hope it was a "particular" case if the solution had to be on the SQL level.

A more generic solution could be a UDF, I guess. Or the conversion outside of TD.

Regards,

Victor
