Yes, it's 307 days before 0001-01-01

I am a bit lazy to calculate the exact day. Interesting start date.

Don't ask why they chose it ;-)

Probably because, by starting the first year at March 1, they can add the leap day at the end of the year rather than at the end of the second month. This makes the calculations easier.
