The conversion of a primary key to an index definition is fine. But suppose at some point in time some one wants to find out the primary keys defined on a set of tables - the ready reckoner would be using the SHOW TABLE command rather than querying the DBC tables/views.

If this is the case the SHOW TABLE would always pop up an index definition rather than a primary key.
